About Me

Hi! My name is Harumendhah Helmy.

But you can call me Harum.

As of February 2012, I’m a graduate student in my final semester of classes at the Missouri School of Journalism.

As an undergrad, I studied multimedia journalism and cultural anthropology. I graduated from the University of Missouri in May 2011 and spent the summer living in Jackson, Miss. I worked as an intern at the Institute of Southern Jewish Life, assisting the organization’s oral historian with his multimedia needs.

Presently, I work the early morning shift at Newsy, producing the site’s franchise of aggregating headlines that break overnight (in terms of U.S. Central Time, that is). I take pride in being able to ungrumpily multitask before 7 a.m.

I also report and write for KBIA 91.3 FM and VOX Magazine. I grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia.
